Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Updates to the index are not successfully completed, and the "Add Error fetching URL, (80041201 - The object was not found. )" error message that is logged to the gatherer log does not contain any information to help you troubleshoot the issue

You notice that updates to the index are not successfully completed in SharePoint Portal Server 2001. However, the error message that is logged to the gatherer log does not contain any information to help you troubleshoot the issue. For example, when you perform a full update of a content source in your workspace, the crawl operation is not successfully completed. When you click Click here for Detailed Log to view the gatherer log, you receive the following error message:
Date Time \\.\backofficestorage\localhost\SharePoint Portal Server\workspaces\Workspace_Name\ Add Error fetching URL, (80041201 - The object was not found. )
The error message does not contain any useful information to help you troubleshoot the issue.

This issue occurs in scenarios where the value of the CatalogGUID registry entry in the following registry subkey is not updated with the actual GUID that is used for the workspace:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\CatalogNames\SharePointPortalServer\Workspace_Name

You may experience this issue after certain backup or restore operations where an issue occurred that prevented the CatalogGUID registry entry from being correctly updated.
