List of issues that this update fixes
The Update for InterConnect 2004 (KB895332) fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.InterConnect 2004 does not start if the user account password was changedInterConnect 2004 does not start, and most of the data for a user will be lost, when you log on to the computer and one of the following conditions is true:
- Your password was changed by the administrator for the computer.
- Your password was changed by the network administrator.
- You changed your password, and the computer is running Microsoft Windows XP on a network that uses a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 domain server.
All users can access the InterConnect 2004 executable instanceThe InterConnect 2004 program is a single-instance executable. However, any user can access this instance of InterConnect 2004. This update changes the security attributes of the instance so that only the process owner has access to this instance of InterConnect 2004.
InterConnect 2004 does not display a security message when a certificate does not match the current certificateWhen you receive an InterConnect 2004 item together with a bizcard, you do not receive a security message if one of the following conditions is true:
- The certificate that was used to sign the InterConnect 2004 item does not match the current certificate that was imported into InterConnect 2004. This does not include the receipt of a bizcard or an update to a bizcard.
- The certificate that was used to sign the bizcard does not match the current certificate that was imported into InterConnect 2004.
- You receive InterConnect 2004 items that are from a contact who is not in your Contact list. This does not include the receipt of a bizcard or an update to a bizcard.
You receive a "The compact/repair database operation failed" error message When you click
Compact and Repair Database on the
Tools menu in InterConnect 2004, you receive the following error message:

How to determine whether the update is installed
The update contains files that have the version numbers that are listed in the following table.

You do not have to install this update if you have later versions of the files that are listed in the table.
To determine the version of the Iconnect.exe file that is installed on the computer, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Search.
- Click All files and folders.
- Type Iconnect.exe in the All or part of the file name box.
- In the Look in box, click Local Hard Drives.
- Click Search.
- Right-click the found file, and then click Properties.
- Click the Version tab to determine the version of the Iconnect.exe file that is installed on the computer.
Information for administrators about .msp files
The update is made up of a full-file Microsoft Windows Installer patch file (.msp file) that is packaged in a self-extracting executable file. The following .msp file is distributed in this update:
Information for administrators about how to reinstall specific components
If you update your administrative installation point and then recache and reinstall InterConnect 2004 on client computers, you can run a command line that includes the
REINSTALL=[list of features] property. This property specifies whether you want to reinstall specific components of InterConnect 2004 from the administrative image. For the Update for InterConnect 2004 (KB895332), the value for
[list of features] is as follows:
Optionally, you can substitute the parameter
REINSTALL=ALL to reinstall all Microsoft Office components on the client computer.
