FIX: You receive an error message when you call the GetCommonValue method against an empty element in a BizTalk Server map (895264)

SYMPTOMS

You may experience the following problem in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004. When you use either the Scripting functoid or the Get Common Value functoid to call the GetCommonValue method of the Microsoft.BizTalk.CrossReferencing.CrossReferencing class, you receive an error message. You receive this error message when you call the GetCommonValue method against an empty element, and that element is in a source XML message in a BizTalk Server map. You receive the following error message:
yourMapping.btm XSL transform error: Function 'ScriptNS0:GetCommonValue()' has failed. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next BizTalk Server 2004 service pack that contains this hotfix.
