A user does not have the option to save a note after creating the note in Microsoft CRM (894928)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

After a user creates a new note in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.0, the user does not have the option to save the note. This problem occurs if the user was assigned a custom security role whose permissions include Create access and Read access for notes.

CAUSE

To create and save new notes in Microsoft CRM 1.0, a user must have all the following permissions:
  • Create access
  • Read access
  • Write access

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, modify the custom security role to include Write access.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior is changed in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.2. In Microsoft CRM 1.2, users do not have to have Write access to create and save new notes.

If you want users in Microsoft CRM 1.2 to be able to create and save new notes but not to be able to modify existing notes, assign users the following permissions:
  • Append To access
  • Append access
  • Read access
  • Create access
