FIX: Event ID 54 "Event provider was unable to send event" is logged when Application Center 2000 does not successfully send some COM+ replication driver WMI events (894619)

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Application Center 2000 does not successfully send some Microsoft COM+ replication driver Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) events to the Windows Application log and to the Application Center 2000 event log database. The Application Center 2000 event log database is used by the Application Center 2000 Event and Performance Logging feature.

When this problem occurs, the following Error event is logged in the Application log:Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Center
Event Category: General
Event ID: 54
Description:
Event provider was unable to send event.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Application Center 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Application Center 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed on the computer.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must restart the Application Center Synchronization service.
