You receive the Change Password dialog box when you try to use a smart card to log on to a Windows Server 2003 domain in Windows XP Professional (894069)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows XP Professional, when you try to use a smart card to log on to a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 domain, you receive the Change Password dialog box. In the Change Password dialog box, the User Name box is empty and the Old Password box is full.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you try to log on to a Windows Server 2003 domain and your password has expired.

Note After you apply this hotfix, when you try to use a smart card to log on to a Windows Server 2003 domain and your password has expired, you will receive the following error message:
Your password has expired and must be changed. Please logon using your password in order to change it.

RESOLUTION
