SYMPTOMS

When you install the Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Standard Edition upgrade, you may receive the following message after you start an Office 2004 for Mac program:

Upgrade Verification

To continue installation, select the folder that contains the earlier version of the software (Microsoft Office X folder, for example). The folder can be located on either your computer or the CD-ROM from which you originally installed the earlier version of the software.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the Office 2004 upgrade verification program cannot find a qualifying product that was installed on the computer.
