You receive a "The available memory is not sufficient" error message when you try to change the permissions of a public folder in Exchange System Manager (893378)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to change the permissions of a public folder in Exchange System Manager, you receive the following error message:
The available memory is not sufficient. Close some applications or windows, and try again.
Additionally, the following event may be logged in the Application log when Microsoft Exchange replicates the public folder information:
Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeIS Public Store Event Category: Replication Errors Event ID: 3091 Description: Error 1008 occurred while processing an incoming replication message. Folder: (Folder ID) IPM_SUBTREE\Top Level Folder\Subfolder\Subfolder

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
