You cannot install an Office X for Mac update on a computer that has Roxio Toast Titanium installed (892958)

SYMPTOMS

You cannot install an Microsoft Office X for Mac update on a computer that has Roxio Toast Titanium installed.

When you download a Microsoft Office X for Mac update file by using the MacBinary (.bin) format, the file does not expand when the file is finished downloading. Additionally, the icon for the Office update file may have the .iso file name extension in the icon graphic.

When you double-click the icon, Roxio Toast Titanium starts. Then, you receive the following error message:

"Office_Update_name.bin" is an unsupported format and cannot be imported.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the .bin file name extension has been associated with the Roxio Toast Titanium program.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Quit all open applications
Click to select the icon for the Office update file.
On the File menu, click Get Info.
Expand the open with pane. Then, click Stuffit Expander in the Open With list.
If Stuffit Expander is not listed, follow these steps:
1. On the Open With list, click Other.
2. Locate the Stuffit Expander program.
  
  Note Typically, this program is in the Utilities folder under the Applications folder.
3. Click Stuffit Expander, and then click Add.
Click Change All.
Close the Get Info window. The icon appears as a Stuffit Expander icon.
Install the update.
