The "Load summary resource assignments" check box is selected again when you reconnect to an account in Project 2003 (892135)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Project 2003, you want to prevent the summary resource assignment information from being loaded when you connect to a Project server account. To do this, you click to clear the Load summary resource assignments check box in the Project Server Accounts dialog box. When you restart Project 2003 to reconnect to the account, the Load summary resource assignments check box is selected again.

How to obtain the hotfix

The state of the Load summary resource assignments check box affects all Project server accounts that you connect to. If you use multiple Project server accounts (profiles) to connect to a server or to multiple servers, the setting is applied to all Project server accounts.

To control whether the summary resource assignment information is loaded when you open the Project server account, apply the hotfix, and then use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Click to select or to clear the "Load summary resource assignments" check box

Note The change that you make when you use this method will be persistent. The change will also be reflected in the LoadSummaryResourceAssignments value of the registry.
  1. Start Project 2003.
  2. In the Project Server Accounts dialog box, follow these steps:
    1. Click the account that you want to open.
    2. Use one of the following procedures:
      • If you want the summary resource assignment information to be loaded, click to select the Load summary resource assignments check box.
      • If you do not want the summary resource assignment information to be loaded, click to clear the Load summary resource assignments check box.
    3. Click Connect.

Method 2: Modify the registry

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Note The change that you make when you use this method will be persistent. The change will also be reflected in the Load summary resource assignments check box in the Project Server Accounts dialog box.
  1. Quit Project 2003.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then click the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\MS Project\Profiles

  4. Right-click LoadSummaryResourceAssignments, and then click Modify.
  5. In the Value data box, use one of the following procedures:
    • If you want the summary resource assignment information to be loaded, type Yes.
    • If you do not want the summary resource assignment information to be loaded, type No.
  6. Click OK.
  7. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
