The spacing between paragraphs may be larger than expected in Word 2002 (891959)
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf the following conditions are true in a Microsoft Word 2002 document, the spacing between paragraphs that use the double-spacing style may be larger than expected: - You apply the double-spacing format to a paragraph style.
- You change the line spacing format back to single-spacing.
Note that the spacing can range to almost a half a page.
Additionally, the remaining paragraphs in the document start on the next consecutive page.
CAUSEThis problem occurs when the Allow Background Saves feature is turned off in the Options dialog box in Word 2002.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, you must turn on the Allow Background Saves feature. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Options on the Tools menu.
- Click the Save tab.
- Click to select the Allow Background Saves check box.
- Click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
