You cannot specify conditions that control when an operating system deployment program runs in Systems Management Server 2003 (891351)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to locate the Environment tab
in the Program
Properties dialog box in Microsoft Systems
Management Server 2003 to set the conditions that control when an operating
system deployment program runs, no Environment tab or similar
option is available.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, follow these steps:
- Create a new regular package
that includes a program that does not deploy an operating system in the Command
Line input box.
- In the Program
Properties dialog box, click to select one of
the following conditions on the Environment tab for the new
program:
- Only when a user is logged
on
- Only when no user is logged
on
- Whether or not a user is logged
on
- In
the Program Properties dialog box of the operating system
deployment package, click
the Advanced tab,
and then click Run
another Program first.
- In
Program
Properties,
click to select the package and the program that were
created in step 1.
- Distribute and advertise the operating system deployment
package to the client computer as usual.
STATUS This
behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATIONThe SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment Feature Pack is
designed to let enterprises schedule operating system
deployment based on their schedules.
Therefore, the Operating System Deployment Feature Pack cannot control
when an operating system deployment program runs. For example, operating
system deployment programs cannot be set to run based on when users log on or
