Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues. The issues were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
  • You receive an "An error has occurred on the server" error message when you try to add a new user to your Windows SharePoint Services Web site

You click Add Users on the Manage Users page to add a new user to your Windows SharePoint Services Web site. When you click Finish on the Add Users: WebSiteName page, you receive the following error message:
An error has occurred on the server
This problem occurs if the display name of the user in the Active Directory directory service contains one or more semicolons.
  • Only people are included in the content index in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003

SharePoint Portal Server 2003 indexes only people. Other portal site content is not included in the index as expected. For example, documents that are stored on Windows SharePoint Services Web sites are not included. When you view the gatherer logs, you see multiple occurrences of one or more of the following error messages:
The address could not be found, (0x80042616 - Error in the Site Data Web Service. ) The system cannot find the file specified.

The address could not be found, (0x80042616 - Error in the Site Data Web Service. )
When a user searches the portal site for content, no documents are returned in the search results.
