You may receive an "Error code -3002" error message when you try to download information from your financial institution for a new account in Money (890439)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to download information from your financial institution for a new account in Microsoft Money, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Error code -3002
Due to technical difficulties at your bank or brokerage's Web site, your account update was unsuccessful. Your account will be automatically updated within 24 hours, or you can try again now.
When you click Try again now, the Update Online Information dialog box appears. However, the account that you want to update is not in the list of accounts to update.

Note The account that you want to update does appear in the Account List in the Banking area of Money.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
  • Third-party service providers cannot connect to your financial institution.
  • The Web site for your financial institution is not available.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, delete the account from the Account List, and then create the account again. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Money.
  2. Click Banking, and then click Account List.
  3. Right-click the account that you want to update, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion if you are prompted to.
  4. Click Add a new account, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to create the account again.
