Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package also fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When you open, change, and then save an e-mail message that you received in Outlook 2003, Outlook 2003 may stop responding (hang), and you may receive the following error message:

Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
    • This is the first time that you opened the e-mail message.
    • Microsoft Outlook 2002 has a Microsoft Exchange Client Extension installed.
    • The Exchange Client Extension sets the read flag when the OnRead event occurs.
    • The Exchange Client Extension sets the message class for the e-mail message to Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (S/MIME) Signed-Only (opaque) or to IPM.Note.SMIME.
    • The e-mail messages that are modified by the Exchange Client Extension have the signed flag set.
    • The preview pane is turned on for your Exchange mailbox.
  • When you try to drag a folder from a resource mailbox to your mailbox or to your personal folder (.pst) file in Outlook 2003, you may receive the following error message:

This information has been marked as private by its author and cannot be changed.

The folder is not copied to your mailbox or to your personal folder.
