Users are not configured after you run the Configure Live Communications Server Users Wizard in Live Communications Server 2005 (889441)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

After you run the Configure Live Communications Server Users Wizard to configure users, you experience both of the following symptoms:
  • The wizard finishes all the configuration operations successfully.
  • One or more of the users is not configured correctly.
The users who are not configured correctly do not appear in the Failed Operations list of the Configure Operation Status page of the Configure Live Communications Server Users Wizard.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the users who you try to configure are enabled for Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003.

You cannot configure users who are enabled for Live Communications Server 2003 for any one or more of the following Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 user settings:
  • Federation
  • Remote access
  • Archiving
If you view the Live Communications tab in the Username Properties dialog box of a user who is enabled for Live Communications Server 2003, the Enable federation check box, the Enable remote user access check box, and all the items under Enable Archiving are unavailable (appear dimmed). The Configure Live Communications Server Users Wizard does not prevent you from selecting users who are enabled for Live Communications Server 2003. Additionally, the wizard does not report a failure for users who are enabled for Live Communications Server 2003.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, enable the users for Live Communications Server 2005. For additional information about how to enable users for Live Communications Server 2005, see the "Enable Users for Live Communications Server" topic in Live Communications Server 2005 Help.
