INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Word 2003 issues that are fixed in the Word 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated November 12, 2004.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When you click Templates and Add-Ins on the Tools menu, global templates and add-ins are listed two times in the Global templates and add-ins box.

    This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
    • The location of the Word 2003 Startup folder has been changed to the location of the Office 2003 Startup folder.

      Note The location of the Office 2003 Startup folder is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Startup.
    • A Word template or add-in file is located in the Office 2003 Startup folder.
    • To start Word 2003 with a new, blank document, you click Start, click All Programs, click New Office Document, click Blank Document, and then click OK.
  • When you try to add an attribute to an XML node that is inside a text box, the attribute may be added to an XML node that is in the main document.

  • The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed or on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed.

    However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Office 2003 SP1 installed than we have on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 without Office 2003 SP1 installed, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.
