You receive an error message when you double-click the Mouse Control Panel shortcut after you install IntelliPoint 5.2 (888739)

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the Mouse Control Panel shortcut on your desktop after you install Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.2, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Microsoft IntelliPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • You install Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.0, and then restart your computer.
  • You install IntelliPoint 5.2 and do not restart your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, restart your computer.
