An ISA Server 2004 firewall client may be unable to connect to an ISA Server 2000 computer that requires a UDP-only control channel (888644)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004, Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004, Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

A Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 firewall client may be unable to connect to the following servers:
  • A Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 computer
  • An ISA Server 2004 computer that requires a User Datagram Protocol (UDP)-only control channel
  • A Microsoft ISA Server 2000 computer that requires a UDP-only control channel

CAUSE

By default, UDP control channel support is disabled in ISA Server 2004 firewall clients.

Note In earlier versions of ISA Server, the firewall client control channel uses TCP and UDP port 1745.

RESOLUTION
