The Exchange System Manager console may not display the actual public folder limits that are enforced by the Information Store service in Exchange Server 2003 (888608)

SYMPTOMS

When you view the public folder limits on the Exchange System Manager console in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, the Exchange System Manager console may not display the actual public folder limits that are enforced by the Information Store service.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.

After you apply this hotfix, the Exchange System Manager console displays the actual public folder limits that are enforced by the Information Store services for that particular folder.

However, this hotfix does not enforce these public folder limits in certain situations, such as in the following examples:
  • New folders may not display the actual public folder limits until you change the public folder limits for that specific folder by using the Exchange System Manager console that is installed with this hotfix.

    Note When you install this hotfix, the Exadmin.dll file for the Exchange System Manager console is updated.
  • Folders may not display the actual public folder limits if one of the following conditions is true:
    • You use a method other than the Exchange System Manager console to change the public folder limits. For example, you use WebDAV or MAPI tools to change the public folder limits of a folder.
    • You use the pre-hotfix version of the Exchange System Manager console to change the public folder limits of a folder.
