SYMPTOMS
You may find that your Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer shuts down unexpectedly when you perform actions that are related to local security, to domain authentication, or to Active Directory directory service processes. For example, the computer might shut down unexpectedly when you do any one of the following:
- Log on to a domain.
- Access a resource on the network in a domain.
- Update your user credentials.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when Domain Name credentials are updated. When Domain Name credentials are updated, memory corruption may occur. This memory corruption causes the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) to stop.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
