ESPN NBA 2K5 is an Xbox Live Aware title. This means that the game automatically signs you in to Xbox Live when the game starts.

Join a game

1. On the Main Menu screen, press the directional pad (D-pad) up or down to select Xbox Live, and then press the A button.
2. On the Xbox Live screen, press the D-pad up or down to select Play, and then press the A button.
3. On the Play screen, press the D-pad up or down to select Quick Match or OptiMatch, and then press the A button.

Quick Match

When you use the Quick Match option, you can search for a game, and then decide whether to join the game immediately or to search for another game. To do this, follow these steps:

1. After you select Quick Match on the Play screen, the game immediately starts to search for game to play.
   • If a game is found, press the D-pad left or right to select a team on the Team Select screen, and then press the A button to join the game.
   • If no game is found, you receive the following message: No matches were found. Would you like to create one?
2. By default, No is selected. Press the A button to return to the Play screen.

OptiMatch

When you use the OptiMatch option, you can specify your game preferences, and then search for games that match those preferences.

On the OptiMatch screen, press the D-pad up or down to select the option that you want, press the D-pad left or right to select the setting that you want for the option, and then press Start to search for a game. Select from the following options on the OptiMatch screen:

• Game Mode: Don't Care, NBA Rules, Street
• Difficulty: Don't Care, Rookie, Pro, All Star, Superstar
• Ranked: Don't Care, Yes, No
• Voice: Don't Care, Yes
