Songs and albums are still listed in My Music when you use the Add or Remove Folders Wizard to remove music folders in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (887279)

SYMPTOMSAfter you remove music folders by using the Music Discovery Add or Remove Folders Wizard in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the songs and albums are still listed in My Music.CAUSE
This issue occurs because, when you remove music folders by using the Music Discovery Add or Remove Folder process, this operation only prevents Media Center from monitoring the folders for any new changes. However, this operation does not remove the music files from My Music.WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use either of the following methods to remove the music files from My Music or to permanently delete the files or folders from your hard disk. Method 1: Use Microsoft Windows Media Player to remove the music files from My Music- In Media Player, select the Library tab at the top of the window.
- In the window on the left, select the music that you want to remove from the Library.
- Delete the music by doing one of the following:
- Press DELETE on the keyboard.
- Use the mouse to right-click the selected music, and then click Delete.
You are prompted with the following message:
Are you sure you want to delete 'Song_Name'?
Delete from library only
Delete from library and my computer

Respond to this message by doing one of the following:
- Select Delete from library only to remove the files from the Library and from My Music but to leave the files on your hard disk.
- Select Delete from library and my computer to permanently delete the files from your hard disk.
Method 2: Use Media Center to permanently delete the music files from your computer and from My Music- In My Music, select the music that you want to delete.
- Delete the music by doing one of the following:
- Press DELETE on the keyboard.
- Use the mouse to right-click the selected music, and then click Delete.
- Use the remote to press MORE INFO, and then select Delete.
Select Yes when you are prompted.
