Incorrect version information appears for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (887206)

SYMPTOMS

When you view the version information for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the incorrect version number or the incorrect product name may appear. This issue occurs when you use one of the following methods to view the version information:

In Windows Explorer, on the Help menu, you click About Windows.
On the Desktop, you right-click My Computer, you click Properties, and then you click the General tab.
You run the System Information tool, and then you look in the System Summary list.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Microsoft Windows XP operating system that is included with Media Center Edition 2005 was not changed to reflect the new version of Media Center.

RESOLUTION

To determine which version of Media Center you have installed on your computer, follow these steps:

Select Settings, and then select General.
