SYMPTOMS

When you try to view the home page of a public folder, Microsoft Outlook 2002 may unexpectedly quit, and you receive an error message that is similar to the following error message.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the following two conditions are true:
  • A registry key for Microsoft Internet Explorer is missing.
  • The Web Browser control (the Shdocvw.dll file) does not load correctly.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, reregister the Web Browser control. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type Regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Click OK when you receive the following message: DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shdocvw.dll succeeded.
