Upgrading to Host Integration Server 2004 does not completely remove the Shared Folders Gateway Service entry from the Host Integration Server 2004 configuration file (884381)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004

INTRODUCTION

Even though the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 Setup program removes the Shared Folders Gateway Service during the upgrade process, the Shared Folders entry still appears in SNA Manager after you upgrade from SNA Server 4.0 or Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

The Shared Folder Gateway Service itself and associated binary files are removed after the upgrade. However, the Shared Folders entry in the Host Integration Server 2004 configuration file (Com.cfg) is not removed. The Shared Folder Gateway Service feature is no longer available in Host Integration Server 2004.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, delete the Shared Folders service by right-clicking the service in SNA Manager and then clicking Delete. Then, make sure that you save the SNA configuration.
