The Host Integration Server 2004 upgrade process saves important registry keys and data files (883849)

INTRODUCTION

The Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS) 2004 upgrade process saves several important registry keys, the Com.cfg data file, and the Comtblg.dat file to back up an earlier version's configuration information. This behavior has the following benefits:
  • These files remain in the Temp folder and can be easily accessed with the Setup.log file for troubleshooting purposes.
  • If something unexpected occurs during the upgrade process and the information cannot be restored, a copy of the information is stored in the Temp folder. Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) can help you manually restore the settings by using the backup copy in the Temp folder.
The registry keys are stored in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SNAConfig key. The files are stored in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\SNAConfig folder.

Note These backups are not deleted if you remove Host Integration Server 2004.

MORE INFORMATION

Host Integration Server 2004 supports the upgrade of Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and SNA Server 4.0 SP4. Host Integration Server 2004 does not support the upgrade or interoperability with SNA Server 2.0 or SNA Server 3.0.
