Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS) 2004 offers a number of technologies to integrate open Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and IBM Systems Network Architecture (SNA) networks. These technologies include a new Internet Protocol-Data Link Control (IP-DLC) Link Service in support of the industry-popular SNA over IP routing (Enterprise Extender). IP-DLC Link Service lets branch-deployed and centrally deployed HIS computers connect directly to z900 mainframes over high-speed IP networks so that you no longer have to remotely administer branch cluster controllers, use expensive Data-Link Switching (DLSW)-capable routers, or maintain costly front-end processors (FEPs). Learn how to use HIS 2004 to consolidate your network infrastructure, while supporting the same level of SNA-compatible applications and services.

This is a Level 300 session presented by Chris Houser and Shawn Henretty.

Chris Houser joined Microsoft in 1995. He is currently a Program Manager with the Host Integration Server team. Before he joined the product team, Chris was technical lead on the SNA Server Product Support Services team. Chris came to Microsoft from the Campbell Soup Research and Development facility in Davis, CA, where he was the Network Administrator.

Shawn Henretty joined Microsoft in 1999. He is currently a support engineer with Product Support Services in the Host Integration Server team. Before joining Microsoft, Shawn worked at Attachmate Corporation as a technical account specialist. Before that, he worked at WordPerfect/Novell as a problem resolution specialist.
