A JPEG image does not print correctly in Windows 2000 (875548)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print a JPEG (.jpg) image in Microsoft Windows 2000, the JPEG image prints incorrectly. For example, the top part of the image may be "doubled" on the printout.

CAUSE

This problem may occur on some printers if the following conditions are true:

You print by using 600x600 dots per inch (dpi) resolution.
Your printer uses a feature that corrects the image quality by using exposure detail information that is captured in the JPEG file. Your digital camera captures this information when you take the photograph. This information is referred to as Exchangeable Image File (EXIF) data.

This problem occurs because a problem exists in the operating system. This problem does not indicate that any problem exists with your printer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
