SYMPTOMS

When you use the Web Author console in Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002, you may notice that the plus sign (+) and the minus sign (-) that are used to expand the resource gallery tree are not displayed.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when the webctrl_client folder is no longer mapped to the root directory of the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Web site.

This behavior occurs most frequently when the MCMS entry point has been changed to a Web site other than the default Web site.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
  • Make sure the webctrl_client folder is located in the root directory of the Web site that you are using.
  • Create a virtual mapping to the webctrl_client folder in the root directory of the Web site where you created the MCMS entry point.
Note The webctrl_client folder is also created when you install the Microsoft Internet Explorer WebControls Version 1.0. To install the Internet Explorer WebControls Version 1.0, visit the following Microsoft Web site:Note To locate the Internet Explorer WebControls download, expand Web Development in the left pane, expand Web & Internet Samples, expand ASP.NET Server Controls, and then click WebControls.
