The installation of the Office Live Meeting Add-in for Outlook is not successful (871025)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Live Meeting
  • Microsoft Office Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 98
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the Microsoft Office Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, the installation appears to complete successfully. However, the Live Meeting toolbar does not appear in Outlook 2003, and the Microsoft Office Live Meeting Add-in Pack does not appear in Add or Remove Programs.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when you try to install the Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook on a computer that is running an earlier version of either Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.

The earlier versions of Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 have different requirements for self-registering components, and they may be incompatible with the original version of the Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one or both of the following methods, depending on your situation.

Method 1: Update your Microsoft Windows installation

To update your installation of Windows with the latest service packs and security updates, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Click Scan for updates, and then review and install the recommended critical updates and service packs.

Method 2: Download and install the latest version of the Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook

To download and install the latest Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
