A Windows binary performance log file that you convert to a comma-separated variable file does not contain data for multiple instances of a process on a Windows XP-based computer (870991)

After you convert a Windows binary performance log file (.blg) to a comma-separated variables file (.csv), some of the processes that had multiple instances running when the log was recorded do not contain data. This problem occurs on a Microsoft XP-based computer after you do the following:
  • You use the Save Data As command in Performance to convert the Windows binary performance log file to the comma-separated variables file.
  • You open the comma-separated variables file by using Microsoft Excel.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
