The version and the build number of Internet Explorer are not displayed correctly in AOL on a computer that is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (870888)

SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and America Online (AOL) 9.0, if you click About AOL on the Help menu in AOL, and then you press CTRL+R, the version and the build number of Microsoft Internet Explorer are not displayed correctly in the System Information dialog box.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, view the version and the build number of Internet Explorer by using the About Internet Explorer dialog box in Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer (if it is not already started).
  2. On the Help menu, click About Internet Explorer.

    The version and the build number are displayed in the About Internet Explorer dialog box.
