You receive an error message when you try to install Digital Image Suite 9 or Digital Image Suite 2006 (870852)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Digital Image Suite 9 or Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:
Error 1606.Could not access network location INSTALLDIR
Out of disk space. Disk space required for installation exceeds available disk space. The selected drive does not have enough space available to install Microsoft Digital Image Library 9. Click the exit setup button, free up additional space on your disk drive, and then run setup again.
Out of disk space. Volume "INSTALLDIR" required space 1kb available space 0 kb. Free some disk space & retry
Error 1317 An error occurred while attempting to create the directory c:\documents and settings\all users\documents\my music

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the Digital Image Suite installation process cannot copy files to a folder on the hard disk.

RESOLUTION

  1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
  2. Right-click C:\.
  3. Click the Sharing tab.

    Note If the drive C is already shared, go to step 5.
  4. Click New share.
  5. In the New Share window, type a name in the Share name text box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Permissions.
  8. In the Permissions window, select the Everyone group in the Group or user names box.
  9. In the Permissions for Everyone box, click to select the Allow Full Control check box.
  10. Repeat the steps 3 through 6 for the My Music folder of the user account that is experiencing the issue.
After both drive C and the My Music files are shared and permissions are given, you can install Digital Image without receiving any error messages.
