This article describes how to stop a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) error message from being displayed on a computer that is running a 64-bit edition of Microsoft Windows Server 2003. A WMI error typically occurs because of a critical hardware error.

To stop a WMI error message from being displayed on a computer that is running a 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2003, add the DisableMCAPopups registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\WMI
On the Edit menu, point to New, click DWORD Value.
Type DisableMCAPopups, and then press ENTER.
Double-click DisableMCAPopups.
Type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
