The PowerPoint 2003 Live Meeting add-in does not load when you start PowerPoint 2003 (842364)

SYMPTOMS

After you install a new add-in for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 or for other Microsoft Office 2003 programs, the Microsoft Office Live Meeting add-in, PlaceWare.ppa, does not load and the PlaceWare menu and toolbar are missing in PowerPoint 2003.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if there is a problem loading or initializing an add-in when you start PowerPoint 2003. If there is a problem loading or initializing an add-in, PowerPoint 2003 marks the add-in as a disabled item and does not load the add-in.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Start PowerPoint 2003.
  2. Click About Microsoft Office PowerPoint on the Help menu.
  3. Click Disabled Items.
  4. Click the PlaceWare add-in on the list.
  5. Click Enable, and then click OK.
  6. Quit and then restart PowerPoint 2003 to load the add-in.
