SUMMARY

This article describes how to place the same page number on both the left and right pages of a Microsoft Word document. This page-numbering format is useful for producing training documents in which trainer information (such as delivery notes) is located on the left page and student information is located on the right page.

First, establish different odd and even headers:

In Word version 6.0, 7.0, and 97, click Page Setup on the File menu. Click the Layout tab. Under Headers and Footers, click Different Odd and Even. Click OK.

In Word version 2.0, click Header/Footer on the View menu. Click to select the Different Odd and Even Pages check box.

In the even header, insert the following field:

{={page}/2}

In the odd header, insert the following field:

{=({page}+1)/2}
