SUMMARY

When you save a file using the .MPX file format in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project accesses the Export table to determine which task or resource fields get exported. If you do not have all necessary export fields available when saving an .MPX file, you may be missing some information that was in the original .MPP file when you reopen the .MPX file.

MORE INFORMATION

The default Export table in Microsoft Project does not include all of the fields necessary to assure that when you open your .MPX files, all of the original .MPP file information is available. For example, the Microsoft Project 4.x Export table includes the Text1 field, whereas the Microsoft Project version 1.x Export table includes Text1 through Text6. Therefore, you may want to modify the table to include additional Text fields. Be sure to include any fields in the Export table that contain data that you want to be included in the .MPX file.
