The "Cannot proceed" error message is logged to the Spin.exe error log when you try to import content to a SharePoint Portal Server 2003 subsite (839797)

SYMPTOMS

You may find that you cannot use the Document Library Import Tool (Spin.exe) to import content from a Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server Web Storage System-based document library to a document library in a Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 subsite. When you try to do this, error messages that are similar to the following are logged to the Spin.exe error log:
http://ServerName/sites/SiteName/SubsiteName is not a valid team site. The longest valid prefix is http://ServerName/sites/SiteName

http://ServerName/sites/SiteName/SubsiteName is not a valid site. Cannot proceed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if Spin.exe assumes that the URL of the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 subsite in the command-line represents a parent site instead of a subsite.

RESOLUTION

This problem is corrected in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
