Text that is in a text box control of a report or a form may not appear correctly in Access (839779)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Access 2003 and in Microsoft Access 2002, you can set the Vertical property of a text box control to Yes in a report or in a form. When you do this, you may notice that the text that is in the text box control does not appear correctly. You may notice any one of the following problems:
  • The font of the text that is in the text box control changes to a different font.
  • The text box control appears blank.
  • The text that is in the text box control changes to text that is not readable.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Note You may not be able to reproduce the problems on all computers.
  1. Start Access 2003 or Access 2002.
  2. Open the Northwind.mdb sample database.
  3. In the Database window, click Reports under Objects, and then click New.
  4. In the New Report dialog box, click Design View, and then click OK.
  5. Add a text box control to the report or to the form.
  6. In the text box control, type ="my text".
  7. Right-click the text box control, and then click Properties.
  8. Open the TextBox: <textBoxName> window. On the Other tab, click Yes in the Vertical drop-down list.

    You may notice that the font of the text changes to a different font in the text box control.
