"Uninstaller failed to initialize" error message when you try to reinstall the software for SideWinder Precision 2 (839117)

RESOLUTION

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
3. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
4. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the following check boxes:
   • Process WIN.INI File
   • Load System Services
   • Load Startup Items
5. Click OK, and then click Restart.
6. Open the folder where you installed the software for your game controller. By default, the game controller software is located in the following folder:

   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Game Controllers

7. Right-click Precision 2, and then click Delete.
8. Reinstall the software for your game controller.
9. Click Start, and then click Run.
10. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
11. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
12. Under Selective Startup, click to select the following check boxes:
    • Process WIN.INI File
    • Load System Services
    • Load Startup Items
13. Click OK, and then click Restart.
