SYMPTOMS
An
Active Server Pages (ASP) page calls Component Object Model (COM) objects that
are running in a COM+ package on a computer that is running Microsoft Internet Information Services version 6.0 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003. After the ASP page refreshes many times, you
receive the following error message:
2147220997
(0x800401fb - "Automation Error, object is not registered")
However,
on Microsoft Windows 2000, the application works as expected.
RESOLUTION
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now
available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that
is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing
this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore,
if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you
wait for the next Windows Server 2003 service pack that contains this
hotfix.
