How to troubleshoot error codes in Jeopardy! Deluxe and Wheel of Fortune Deluxe (839001)

INTRODUCTION

This article is a list of the error codes that you may receive in Microsoft Jeopardy Deluxe and Microsoft Wheel of Fortune Deluxe. With each error code there is more information about the error, including some possible workarounds.

When you receive a "fatal" error message in the games, a number appears in parentheses immediately after the error. This number is the error code.

0The program files may be corrupted. See the "How to reinstall the program" section for details about how to resolve this behavior.
1This is a network error. The game is failing to open a TCP/IP socket. To resolve this error, when you start the game, if you are prompted to connect or to stay offline, choose to connect. If you are not prompted to connect, start Microsoft Internet Explorer, type \\127.0.0.1 in the Address box (this is the address of your computer), and then start the game.
2There is a problem with the display. The game requires a color quality of at least 256 colors. See the "References" section for information about how to troubleshoot display problems.
3The game is having a problem with Oleaut32.DLL. See the "References" section for information about how to replace this file.
4The signature on the data pack has been modified. The file may be corrupted. See the "How to reinstall the program" section for details about how to resolve this behavior.
5The signature on the data pack loader (Zeppo.dll) has been modified. The file may be corrupted. See the "How to reinstall the program" section for details about how to resolve this behavior.
6-9This error is related to extracting or unpacking data from the Xpack. See the "How to reinstall the program" section for details about how to resolve this behavior.
10This error occurs if the Flash Player is not installed and you are not online. To resolve this behavior, obtain and install the Flash Player. To do so, visit the following Macromedia Web site to obtain and install the Flash Player:
11This behavior occurs if the Root Pack that contains the core game data is missing or is corrupted. See the "How to reinstall the program" section for details.

How to reinstall the program

To reinstall the program, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add or Remove Program.
  3. Select the program, and then click Change/Remove.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. When the program is removed, click Close.
