SYMPTOMS

After you install the Microsoft Windows Storage Server feature pack on a Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003-based computer, you may receive the following error message after you open the properties dialog box of a shared resource that is not Windows-based:
The share information cannot be retrieved. Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact your hardware provider.
For example, this issue occurs when you open the properties dialog box of an Apple Macintosh shared resource.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
