INTRODUCTION

You can install Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006 or ISA Server 2004 on a computer that has only one network adapter installed. Typically, you use this configuration when the following conditions are true:
  • When ISA Server is located in the internal corporate network or in a perimeter network.
  • Another firewall is located at the edge that connects and protects corporate resources from the Internet.

When ISA Server is installed on a computer that has a single network adapter, ISA Server supports the following scenarios:
  • Forward Web Proxy requests that use HTTP, Secure HTTP (HTTPS), or File Transfer Protocol (FTP) for downloads
  • Cache Web content for use by clients on the corporate network
  • Web publishing to help protect published Web or FTP servers
  • Microsoft Outlook Web Access, ActiveSync, and remote procedure call (RPC) over HTTP publishing
