The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Developer Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Partner Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Queries menu in the Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Health and Activity Tracking (HAT) tool, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
There is an error in XML document (1,3).
Note The (1,3) section of this error message may vary depending on the location of the error in the XML document.

This issue may also cause the expected list of queries to display incorrectly when you click the Queries menu.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if one or more .trq or .xml files that are located in the following folder are corrupted:

Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004\Tracking\Queries

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Start Windows Explorer, and then locate the following folder:

    Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004\Tracking\Queries

  2. Delete any .trq or .xml files that are formatted incorrectly.

Note To determine whether the files in this directory are incorrectly formatted, double-click the files. If an .xml file opens in Internet Explorer without error, or if a .trq file opens in the HAT interface without error, the file is not corrupted.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
