The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Developer Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Partner Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Configuration Wizard, you may receive the following error message:
COM object with clsid {b492c386-0195-11d2-89ba-00c04fb9898d} is either not valid or not registered
If you click Retry in the message box, you receive the following error message:
This server has already joined a group. To reconfigure the server, type the following syntax at the command prompt:
ConfigFramework.exe /u

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you install a BizTalk Server component that requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services, such as Business Activity Monitoring (BAM), and SQL Analysis Services is installed on a remote computer instead of on the computer that is running BizTalk Server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. On the computer that is running BizTalk Server, install the SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Client Components and Decision Support Objects (DSO).
  2. Run the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3a (SP3a) package for SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services to update the components that you installed in step 1.
  3. Manually remove the databases that the Configuration Wizard created the first time that you ran it. In the scenario that this article discusses, the Configuration Wizard creates the databases that appear in the following table on the computer that is running SQL Server and that houses the BizTalk Server databases.
    DatabaseDefault database name
    BizTalk ConfigurationBizTalkMgmtDb
    BizTalk Message BoxBizTalkMsgBoxDb
    BizTalk TrackingBizTalkDTADb
  4. Run the Configuration Wizard again.

STATUS
