Exchange 2000 does not add SMTP headers (837167)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) to send a message through a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, the original header information of the e-mail message is not included in the message that is received by a Microsoft Outlook user.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Exchange 2000 does not save the header information of e-mail messages that are created by using an Outlook client when those e-mail messages are submitted for local delivery or relay.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
