Connection speed may fluctuate between 54 and 24 Mbps for Microsoft MN-700 series wireless network adapters (836516)

SYMPTOMS

When you monitor the connection speed of your Microsoft Broadband Networking Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter MN-710, your Microsoft Broadband Networking Wireless Notebook Adapter MN-720, or your Microsoft Broadband Networking Wireless PC Adapter MN-730, the connection speed may fluctuate between 54 and 24 megabits per second (Mbps).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the MN-700 base station is configured to use the g performance (fastest) wireless mode in the Base Station Management Tool.

This is expected behavior when you use g performance mode. It does not indicate any problem with the performance of your Microsoft Broadband Networking hardware.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
