The Fix Red Eye feature of Windows Media Center may not remove red eye artifacts from a picture (836438)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Fix Red Eye feature in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 to fix any red eye artifacts in a picture, the feature may not remove all the red eye artifacts from a picture or just remove the red eye artifact from just one eye.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, rotate the picture before you try to remove any red eye artifacts from the picture. To do so, follow these steps:

Note These steps assume that the picture that you want to rotate is in your My Pictures folder.
  1. Click Start, and then click My Pictures.
  2. On the View menu, click Filmstrip.
  3. Scroll the Filmstrip to locate the picture that you want to rotate.
  4. To rotate the picture 90 degrees to the right, click Rotate Clockwise. To rotate the image 90 degrees to the left, click Rotate Counterclockwise.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
